NAMI Georgia offers a series of opportunities for education about mental illness.  To learn more click on the individual topic links below them:

Peer-to-Peer

The NAMI Peer-to-Peer Education Course is a nine week – two hours per week – experiential education course on the topic of recovery for any person with serious mental illness who is interested in establishing and maintaining wellness. The Course uses a combination of lecture, interactive exercises and structured group processes. The diversity of experience among course participants affords for a lively dynamic that moves the Course along. Click here for more information.

Family to Family

A free 12-week course for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illnesses that discusses the clinical treatment of these illnesses and teaches the knowledge and skills that family members need to cope more effectively.  Click here for more information

Parents and Teachers as Allies

This is a two-hour in-service program focusing on helping school professionals and families within the school community better understand the early warning signs of mental illnesses in children and adolescents and how best to intervene so that youth with mental health treatment needs are linked with services. It also covers the lived experience of mental illnesses and how schools can best communicate with families about mental health related concerns. Click here for more information

Borderline Personality Disorder

NAMI is pleased to be co-sponsoring with the National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder (NEA-BPD). This class is designed specifically for BPD families to help improve the quality of life and reduce the suffering of family members through family psyclo-education, skill building and social support.

Basics

A free 6-week course for family caregivers of children and adolescents who have either been diagnosed with a serious mental illness / serious disturbance or who are experiencing symptoms but have not yet been diagnosed.  This free course is taught by trained family members.
